Dr. David Wilcoxson, MD, FACC
Dr. Wilcoxson, a Board Certified Cardiologist by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, joined Scottsdale Vein & Laser Center in 2014, bringing more than 30 years of expertise treating patients in Arizona with a wide variety of internal medicine and specifically cardiovascular disorders. He holds an MD from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is affiliated with a multitude of Phoenix-area hospitals.
For SVLC, Dr. Wilcoxson treats patients suffering varicose veins, spider veins, cardia arrhythmia, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and other related symptoms and diseases. He competently also performs cardiac intervention and treats symptomatic concerns such as heart flutter. He specializes in minimally invasive, state of the art treatment of all venous disorders.
Wilcoxson completed his residency in Cardiology at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson. He completed his post-graduate training at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.
Dr. Wilcoxson’s past experience includes running an Interventional Cardiology clinic in Mesa, AZ, and numerous employment positions with private cardiology companies locally. He also served as Vice Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff for Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Mesa, AZ for a total of four years.
He is a lifelong learner with a passion for the art of resolving the unique venous disorders for each of his patients. As he puts it, each patient’s need is his opportunity to take them from suffering or discomfort, to being their most healthy—feeling the best they can be.
Dr. Wilcoxson a Colorado native, is passionate about his family, his significant garden (including ghost peppers!), and the family’s five dogs. He is also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the uniqueness of the Sonoran Desert and mountains, whether hiking, mountain biking, or snow skiing. Each year the Doctor successfully skis downhill at speed that exceeds his age.
Rick A. Shacket, DO, MD(H)
Dr. Shacket, a Doctorate of Osteopathic (DO) Medicine as well as a Medical Doctor (Homeopathy), has been practicing at the Scottsdale Vein and Proctology Center for more than two years, where he brings more than 25 years of prior medical experience. Dr. Shacket’s licensure and approach provides patients with a whole body perspective, based upon his dual credentials as a DO and MD(H). In addition to being a Board Certified Specialist by the American Osteopathic Board of Proctology and the American Board of Laser Surgery, he is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Shacket earned his DO from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Pomona, CA. He completed postdoctoral training in Homeopathic Medicine from the American Medical College of Homeopathy, in Phoenix, and earned an MD(H); with dual licensure as an Osteopathic Physician and Surgeon, and a Medical Doctor of Integrated Medicine.
Upon completion of his medical internship at Hillside Hospital, San Diego, CA, Dr. Shacket’s residency program was then completed in Proctology in affiliation with Phoenix General Hospital (now Honor Health). He received specialty training in colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, genital diseases, and anal rectal surgery. He is affiliated with various hospital networks in the Phoenix area. Additionally Dr. Shacket was a Principal Investigator for numerous pharmaceutical and medical device research studies, and a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Division of Clinical Education at Midwestern University (Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine), Glendale, AZ – where he lectured on the diagnoses and treatments of colon, rectal, and anal genital disorders.
Dr. Shacket has been featured in various publications recognizing his work in Phlebology and Proctology, and he lectures nationally on proctology and hemorrhoid-related clinical topics. He is the author of various types of content in numerous peer reviewed medical publications nationally, including the medical textbook “Electric Treatment of Hemorrhoids”.
Dr. Shacket is a Michigan native but now splits his time between residences in the Phoenix area and La Jolla, CA. Dr. Shacket is the father of four. He enjoys classic and alternative rock music and collects related rare memorabilia, and he enjoys all things technology.
